Septic Above Ground
Septic tanks can often sit on or above ground, for several reasons:
Above-ground tanks may be appropriate in water-front areas where installation below the flood level is inappropriate or prohibited. Above ground tanks can be a cost savings due to there being no excavating and backfilling of a tank hole. If the grades are working with you, and tank can sit on top of the ground and still achieve gravity flow to the balance of the system.
Above-ground tanks are exposed to the elements, and as such there are other considerations. They must be able to sit full of liquid without the sides bulging, or the ribs stretching out like an accordion. They must also be UV stable. These considerations often eliminate the use of many plastic tanks.
